Stage One is closing in.

May 2026.

It has been a significant journey throughout this academic year, from walking into the atrium on day one to now approaching the final months of completing our Stage One year.

I’m not sure there’s a better way to summarise this experience than by reflecting on the things I’m grateful for.

I’m grateful to be in such a privileged position, surrounded by the support of my university, family, and friends, all of whom have helped make studying this degree possible.

I’m grateful for the friendships I’ve built throughout the year, people I can share ideas with, work through challenges alongside and laugh with during the stressful moments.

I’m especially grateful for the emotional and practical support from my partner, who has helped keep me grounded while navigating the degree and everything that comes with it.

I’m grateful to the practice educators, mentors, healthcare staff, and patients who have allowed me to learn, grow, and become a safer future clinician.

I’m grateful to the students who approach me for support and guidance and feel that they can trust me to help them.

Finally, I’m grateful for the university lecturers, support staff, and educators who have created such a supportive environment to learn in throughout the year.

Hopefully, I and the cohort can pass through this degree year and move onto the second stage.
