Bugs in theory and reality.

April 2026.

Our cohort recently returned to lectures following our final ambulance placement of the academic year. We were welcomed back with a session on antimicrobial resistance and its impact on clinical practice. It didn’t take long for the discussion to spark questions, with our lecturer fielding a range of probing questions, I missed these discussions along with the enthusiasm our cohort brings.

While antimicrobial resistance proved to be a particularly engaging topic for cohort, I couldn’t help but notice the number of classmates around me who were coughing, sneezing or seeming under the weather.

I found it somewhat ironic that we were discussing antimicrobial resistance while surrounded by the early stages of a minor outbreak in our own lecture theatre.

Regardless, its still good to see everyone again.
